Our client company is looking to add a metals buyer to take ownership of the buying process, build relationships, and improve processes. These positions are highly involved in the supply chain process. If you have metals buying experience and want to work for an growing organization where you can effect change and actively participate as part of a team, this position may be right for you.
In the Buyer position, you will be responsible for:
Researching availability of needed commodities.
Developing relationships with suppliers and potential suppliers within specified commodity groupings
Negotiating requirements in terms of timing, quality, pricing, product specifications with suppliers.
Commodity ordering in response to production needs as indicated through ERP/MRP system and Kanban process.
Interfacing with Production, Engineering and Sales departments to determine appropriate product pricing and in support of client needs.
Requirements for this position include:
5-10 years as a buyer in a manufacturing environment
Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment with knowledge of the Kanban process
Strong attention to detail
Math and analytical skills
Experience working with an MRP/ERP system. Infor Syteline experience, preferred
Experience as a Demand Planner or Forecast Planner, preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong project and time management skills
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
